Things to be Thankful for:
  • Azeri lessons- we found a teacher who will come to us, which is nice since we're at work all day during the week.  She comes over twice a week for an hour or two, and we're finally starting to understand a little.
  • The three of us will be going to Turkey for Thanksgiving, to celebrate with the teams there!  We're very excited to see so many of our friends from training again, not to mention visiting a new country.
  • Good fun-filled weekends between somewhat stressful (at least for me) work weeks.  We've been able to explore the city a little more, meet a new friend for lunch, attend Sunday services, and even explore a bookstore that has a great selection of books in English!
Things to Lift Up:
  • I'm struggling with the whole teaching-kindergarten thing.  While I'm not scared anymore, like I was before we began, it's simply not what I want to do.  And I'm struggling with the knowledge that I'm committed to this for the next two years.  Please lift up that I would find my contentment in Him, not in my situation, and that I will not allow dissatisfaction to poison my heart and mind.
  • More students!  While it has been fun with just the two boys, I can't imagine how they will manage to start an international school (this being the first year) without more kids.
  • We're starting to get into the period when culture shock can set in.  I've already noticed the first signs of it in myself.  That we would recognize the signs and take care of ourselves, but not retreat from the culture in general.
